Anti-Wrinkle Injections.

Botulinum Toxin is used to relax targeted facial muscles, to reduce the severity of lines and wrinkles. This helps the skin appear smoother, more youthful and rejuvenated, as well as helping to prevent any new lines developing.

On average results last for 2-6 months.

Improvements can often be seen as early as 3-4 days; however, the full effect is achieved at 2 weeks.

The results of anti-wrinkle injections are dependent on the units used. We can therefore make the results very natural and simply soften the expressions, or we can produce more ‘frozen’ results for those who request this.

If you only place botulinum toxin in very localised areas there is a chance your brow position and shape may change as we only affect specific muscles from moving.

We therefore often advise doing all 3 areas (forehead, frown and crows) to ensure the brows are balanced and still look natural. Dr Cassandra will assess your face and muscle movements fully and advise what’s best to achieve your desired results.

Most patients report pain levels as none to minimal and most treatments are completed within 10-30 minutes.

There is no specific down time, and you will often leave without any trace of having anything done. Immediately after treatment you may get small blebs of localised redness and swelling for up to 30 minutes, but these will completely disappear.

There is however, some aftercare advice to follow to ensure the best results. This includes avoiding lying down for 3-4 hours, avoiding alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and avoiding hot environments such as a hot bath or shower, sauna and steam rooms, excessive sun exposure or sunbeds.

After Botulinum toxin, patients will typically experience some small raised red bumps for up to 30 minutes after treatment, with the potential for mild tenderness in the treated area for a couple of days.

There is also a small risk of bruising, swelling and tenderness in the areas injected. Also there are risk of altering your expressions or brow positions.

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating and is a common condition affecting both men and women and can cause sufferers a great deal of embarrassment.

Although botulinum toxin is typically used to smooth the skin, they have a well-established medical application for their ability to block the nerve’s signal to the skins sweat glands and reduce your sweating.

Some people clench or grind their teeth so much that it causes their masseter (chewing) muscles to enlarge, giving the face a wider silhouette.

To help slim the face and take away some of the discomfort associated with excessive grinding and clenching Botulinum toxin injections can be injected into the main chewing muscles to help weaken its over-activity and relieve your symptoms.

Although both classed as injectable treatments there is a big difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

Anti-wrinkle injections work to relax the muscle that causes the wrinkles to appear, whereas dermal fillers fill the treated area with hyaluronic acid which adds volume and reduces the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and sunken areas of the face.
